ISO 14001 Workbook Contents
The workbook is divided into 3 sections and includes detailed task checklists, explanations and exercises.
Contents:
Section 1: The Preparation Phase
Management must identify a steering team for the project. It should be made up of managers from different areas of the organization. The purpose of the team will be to assign resources and responsibilities for the project as well as providing leadership for the project.
Once the steering team has been identified, the team can work together to complete the assigned tasks for section 1.
This section breaks this down into 13 tasks that take you through it step by step and help you prepare for your environmental project by setting the stage for the implementation of your ISO 14001 EMS.

Section 2: The Development Phase
This section of the workbook introduces the Environmental Safety Team to the formal requirements for the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System and provides an understanding of the environmental aspects with their impacts, legal and other requirements, and environmental programs and targets.
Instructions to the Environmental Safety Team Leader for presenting the workshop and includes a PowerPoint Training Presentation and detailed exercises tasks 14 through 23.
For example, at task 14, the Environmental Safety Team Leader will present a workshop for the members of the Environmental Safety Team and complete exercises to identify the activities that are currently being carried out, to indicate the activities that meet the ISO 14001 requirements and to highlight areas that need attention.
Section 3: The Implementation and Registration Phase
This section of the workbook includes the steps to complete the design, implementation and documentation of your EMS. The ISO Steering Team will assign responsibilities and timeline for the remaining tasks 24 through 30.
